£19M Development Planned at Calder Park, Wakefield

Peel Holdings have announced that the latest phase of development at Calder Park will see a £19 million office development built by serviced office specialists Gladman Developments.

Calder Park is the first of its kind to combine a state of the art business park alongside a wildlife haven and is Yorkshire’s fastest growing business park.  It currently has over 35 occupiers and more than 800 employees. It is anticipated that the investment by Gladman Developments on a 7 acre plot within the park will bring approximately 1,000 new jobs to the park.

Neil McManus of Gladman Developments said, “This scheme will be Gladman’s third phase of office development on Calder Park and we are looking forward to delivering yet more high quality offices in this prestigious location.  We were very encouraged by the rate at which our phase of development on Calder Park became occupied and this gave us the confidence to build the current phase at Navigation Court, which will reach practical completion this July.  Interest has again been excellent with 50% of the offices already having occupiers committed or close to committing.  We believe that occupiers are drawn to Calder Park because of a combination of its strategic location off junction 39 of the M1 and the exemplar environment that the park provides”.

Nick Hey of Peel Holdings said, “We are extremely pleased that Gladman have seen the potential at the park and have chosen to invest here. The quality of the buildings at Calder Park is of particularly high standard in comparison with other business parks inthe region and its close proximity to the M1 makes it even more desirable for businesses who need immediate access to the motorway network”

Over the past year Calder Park has also seen the completion of Kingfisher House, a 7 million sq ft speculative office building which is now available for sale/to let. There are also plans for a local amenities village.

The standard of accommodation offered at Calder Park is comparable with city centre schemes, providing all of the benefits of an out of town location: unlimited space for occupation, growth potential and car parking; reduced commuting and inter-city travel times and hassle-free access to motorway networks. Real York stone façade is also used to help the buildings integrate with the surrounding environment.
