Highways Agency Choose Calder Park for New Control Base
Peel Holdings is pleased to announce that construction of a new control centre for the Highways Agency has started at its 240 acre state of the art business park in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
Due for completion in June 2005 the Highway Agency’s 20,129 sq ft control centre, will form part of a network of seven such regional centres around the country. They will manage the motorway network and deploy new Highways Agency Traffic Officers.
Mark Schofield, Project Team Leader at The Highways Agency comments:
“One of the reasons why the Highways Agency chose Calder Park, is for its strategic location next to the motorway network “
The control centre will offer the same high quality specification that Calder Park is becoming renowned for with striking features designed to minimize energy use and reduce lifetime running costs.
Calder Park, located at junction 39 of the M1, is the first development of its kind in the UK, combining the latest business park technology alongside a cultivated wildlife haven.
Approximately 110 acres of land will be developed at Calder Park into high office accommodation compromising more than 1.5 million sq ft and approximately 10,000 jobs are expected to be generated.
The park’s occupiers already include George Wimpey and Fairclough Homes, a Gladman Business Quarter, Red Kite restaurant and Express by Holiday Inn Hotel.
