4000 Extra Jobs For Wakefield
Peel Holdings have announced that an extra 4000 jobs could be created at
Calder Park, Wakefield.
The news follows a successful planning application by Peel to increase the space available for office accommodation from 1.1 to 1.5million sq ft. Calder Park is now one of the top Business Parks in the whole of the UK to offer bespoke buildings on such a scale.
It was originally estimated that the local economy would benefit with the creation of up to 6,000 jobs for local people over the next 10 years but this figure now increases to 10,000.
Peel Holdings have already been successful in attracting a number of occupiers to the site including regional head offices of George Wimpey plc and Fairclough Homes and a Holiday Inn Express and Red Kite Restaurant.
Nick Hey of Peel Holdings said:
“The decision by Wakefield Council to allow Calder Park to expand reflects the success we are having in attracting quality organisations to this development. The site has one of the best catchment areas in the whole of the UK, a location which is second to none and superior quality office buildings that are putting Calder Park on the map as the preferred business location”.
Mohan DeSilva, Chief Executive, Wakefield First Development Agency:
“First is delighted to see Calder Park grow. It is recognised as one of the countries top business locations and adds to the high quality portfolio that the District is developing. We will be actively supporting the creation of quality sustainable jobs in the park”.
