Kingfisher House Let in Yorkshire's Deal of the Year
Peel’s Kingfisher House at Calder Park in Wakefield has been let to Minster Law solicitors in what is being hailed as Yorkshires deal of the year.
The deal saw off close competition from several rival regional business parks and even some in South Africa, before it was decided Calder Park was the more attractive park, had a better environment, location and facilities for the relocation.
Minster Law Solicitors have taken the entire 31,720 sq ft (2,947 sq m) building on a lease contract through joint letting agents for the park Savills and Lambert Smith Hampton, for 10 years bringing an additional 400 jobs over time to Calder Park.
Kingfisher House is the latest Grade A office development at Calder Park and is the largest ever speculative office development in the Wakefield area. The striking development provides large open plan floor plates, benefiting from a central core and two wings making the space ideal for subdivision if required.
Matthew Briggs, CEO of Minster Law, said: “We are delighted to be moving into Wakefield. We have an ambitious strategy for growth and need space and flexibility to grow our business and our workforce. Our search for the right location has been extensive. This park’s situation just off the M1, four miles out of Wakefield, offers easy access, good transport networks, ample parking and first class accommodation for our new people”.
Nick Hey at Peel said, “This is brilliant news for Calder Park, as Yorkshire's fastest growing business park we are extremely pleased to welcome Minster Law to the park in what is being seen as Yorkshires deal of the year. Kingfisher House is an excellent building and Calder Park’s environment and location make it great base for companies looking to relocate in the Yorkshire area ”.
Paul Fairhurst , of Savills, Leeds said, “The accommodation at Calder Park satisfied the demands of Minster Law on all fronts, from the quality of building to meeting staffing needs. This was against stiff competition from all the Yorkshire Office parks, as well as some prestigious commercial schemes in Capetown”
