Housebuilders On The Move To Peel’s Calder Park

Peel Holdings today announced that one of the UK’s largest private house builders, George Wmpey UK Ltd, are the first occupiers to take office space at Calder Park, their unique business park off jct 39, M1 Wakefield.

Following a recent company restructuring exercise a 10,000 sq ft bespoke building is being taken at Calder Park that will be their regional office for the North Yorkshire area.
George Wimpey North Yorkshire Limited, currently based at Barnsley, will be relocating its staff of approx 50 to the new office in the summer of 2003. The emphasis of the company’s operating area has shifted to the north following internal restructuring and Calder Park will provide it with the perfect location from which to further its business interests.

Calder Park offers over 1m sq ft of high quality office accommodation next to a 130 acre wildlife haven and is believed to be the first development of it’s kind in the country.

Martin Boynes, Property Manager at George Wimpey commented on the decision to move to Calder Park:

“The great location together with the promise of a quality office building were deciding factors in our decision to move to Calder Park. As well as the excellent proximity to the motorway we recognise that the quality of the working environment is increasingly important to our employees and we wanted to take advantage of Calder Parks uniqueness in this respect”

Nick Hey of Peel Holdings added:
“The quality of the buildings at Calder Park is of particularly high standard in comparison with other business parks. All of the office buildings will focus on the latest in energy efficient design with low running costs. We have tried to strike a balance between working space and the environment that we believe works well”.

Over 30 acres of the site has been allocated for landscaping, the architects have focussed on creating a Dutch Polder landscape allowing plenty of green space to remain.

Phase One of Calder Park is already complete and the site now boasts a Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Red Kite restaurant that have been operating since the summer. Work on the business park offices is expected to begin before Christmas.

Joint agents Lambert Smith Hampton and GVA Grimley have reported a significant number of enquiries and are confident that further occupiers will be announced in the near future.
